Baseball essays

Then by 1858, with the formation of the National Association of Baseball Players, professional baseball was born and enjoyed. But of course the question is what are the rules for this enjoyable sport? Well luckily a writer named Henry Chadwick wrote the first rule book and with just a few minor changes, professional baseball was born. However baseballs development and popularity into a professional sport was still slow, starting in 1869 when Harry Wright formed the first professional team, the Cincinnati Red Stockings. That team was one of a kind and was Unbeaten in a 57-game national tour. Luckily for us fans, we were given nine more teams which then led to the formation of the National Association of Professional Baseball Players in 1871. By the 1870s baseball’s popularity had finally soared high across the United States and is now the best game of our time that captures our imagination.

In 1903, the National League played against the American League in baseball’s first championship game, later what we call the World Series. Now 20 years later and baseball’s popularity is on the rise even more so. Due to baseball’s popularity, radio was used which started two years ago on August 5 1921 and now fans can get the information about the game much faster now. Many families in the Midwest and the Mideast tune in to hear some of the greats of radio now bring the game to life and truth be told on a clear night from California, you could hear games from across the eastern half of the country. Another reason why this beloved game is so popular now are the beautiful stadiums that have been built for families and fans to enjoy.

However the main factor of why baseball’s popularity is taking off is because of one man, the man, the myth, the legend, Babe Ruth! Babe Ruth had become a star with the Red Sox, excelling at both pitching and hitting and played pitcher, outfielder, and first base for the team. It was during this period that he developed his skill for hitting, leading the league with 29 home runs in 1919. Then in1920, Ruth’s contract was picked up by the New York Yankees, that has so far made him and baseball internationally even more famous. If you want to know more about Babe Ruth, we will be interviewing him and his experience with Baseball. Overall we are grateful as fans that baseballs popularity had become evident in United States and we hope it continues for future generations to enjoy.
