Treatment of severe depression
Depression can be treated, and most people see an improvement in their symptoms when they are treated with medication, psychotherapy or a combination of both.
The researchers found that the following treatments were equally effective in reducing depression:
If medications do not relieve symptoms of clinical depression, there are other ways to try.
Brain stimulation techniques such as electrotherapy (ECT) and vaginal nerve stimulation (VNS). However, other treatments are also helpful in depression.
Strength and limitation of the therapy use for treatment of depression
CBT) is a modern therapy that can help overcome problems by changing a person’s thinking and behavior.
Cognitive behavioral therapy has proved to be particularly useful in the treatment of problems such as anxiety, depression, post-traumatic stress disorder, eating disorders and drug abuse.
With ECT, electrodes are placed on the patient’s scalp and a strictly controlled electrical current is applied while the patient is under general anesthesia. The current causes a brief seizure in the brain. ECT is one of the fastest ways to relieve symptoms in patients with severe depression or suicide.
ECT is generally used when patients pose a serious threat to themselves or others, and it is very dangerous to wait for the drugs to take effect.
The Vaginal Nerve Stimulation Device (VNS) has been approved by the FDA for adult patients with severe long-term or recurrent depression. Some patients who have undergone VNS may have taken many medications for the treatment of depression and yet suffer from the symptoms.
Function of the VNS
The small activator is implanted under the collarbone and penetrates under the skin to the vagus nerve in the neck.
Therapy in the light of Islamic
According to psychological studies, a large proportion of people today are prone to depression, even for young children. Therefore, it is important to examine this question in terms of improving Muslims.
A person who feels completely alone in the face of a crisis can feel helpless and depressed. A person who feels the support of a merciful God who is genuinely interested, hears desperate calls, and offers generous help has a better chance of getting back on track faster because there is a strong helping hand he can deal with Problems of life.
“Nor kill (or destroy) yourselves: for verily Allah has been to you Most Merciful!” (Quran 4:29)
The results of self-hatred self-esteem are low in response to feelings of worthlessness or guilt. In Islam you always have hope for God’s grace, even if you commit the worst sins:
The following techniques are useful for the treatment of severe depression.
Never forget that God Almighty will not burden you with more than you can handle. Even in the days when you feel you cannot afford them anymore.
Allah (SWT) promises His believer that
“For indeed, with hardship [will be] ease.” (Quran 94:5)
Trust His word. Even if the suffering is endless and you feel yourself exhausted from the weight of everything, do not lose hope – because there is ease and something better waiting for you. Nothing lasts forever, not even hardships.
God (Glory be to Him) in control, you are not
Depression is defined mainly by a sense of hopelessness. It is in the control of God Almighty. Take a moment and leave it to God (Glory be to Him), trust His plan for you. However, by accepting that God Almighty is in control and welcoming His plans for us will ultimately lead to enriching mind, body and spirit.
Dua when you feel depressed and despair
The Prophet also recommended the following Dua for a believer feeling grief and hopeless:
“O Allah, I hope for Your mercy. Do not leave me to myself even for the blinking of an eye (i.e. a moment). Correct all of my affairs for me. There is none worthy of worship but You.” (Abu Dawud 4/324, Ahmad 5/42)
Combating depression and anxiety is not an easy test, but Islam gives us the hope to heal ourselves and provides a path that leads to its healing. Everything is possible for the Almighty, including the healing of His creation. He helps those who demand Him from Him. Trust him and his plans, and you will feel a sense of satisfaction and comfort when you know that the best planner is in control of your life and circumstances.
